Proxycurl API fetches data from public LinkedIn profiles only. The side effect of public LinkedIn profiles is that it does not have skills data. HR tech companies need skills. For a long time, we could not provide skills data via the Person Profile Endpoint.
I am happy to share that we can now return Skills with Proxycurl's Person Profile Endpoint as of today.
We can fetch skills not by scraping private profiles but by matching profiles with data from external sources. Given that skills data are sourced externally and not fetched live. That means that:
- We cannot return skills for every profile, although we do support Skills data for more than 400M people profiles.
- Skills data are not scraped live and might not be everything listed on a private LinkedIn profile.
To append skills
data to profiles fetched with the Person Profile Endpoint, all you have to do is add the skills=include
parameter to your API call. (See Person Profile API Documentation for more details.)
