Why Does the Reverse Work Email Lookup Return Incorrect Results, and Can It Be Fixed?

The Reverse Work Email Lookup API endpoint is a search function designed to return the closest match. However, the Reverse Email Lookup can sometimes return false positives. Even Google's search results can be inaccurate at times.

It's important to understand that the Reverse Work Email Lookup doesn't actually search a database of work emails and pair them with Professional Social Network profiles. This method wouldn't be effective because most people sign up for Professional Social Network accounts using their personal emails, not work emails.

Considering this, there are two main reasons why false positives might occur:

  1. The correct profile does not have a public Professional Social Network profile or any Professional Social Network profile at all.
  2. Our algorithm for returning the closest match isn't accurate enough.

We're continually working to improve reason #2. However, for reason #1, there isn't much we can do, as the profile isn't available for us to return.

Is It Possible to Show a Probability Score?

We use heuristics to eliminate results that we consider false positives. Since we don't know the actual profile, we have no basis for comparison, making it impossible to show a probability score.

How Can You Help Us Improve the Results of the Reverse Work Email Lookup Endpoint?

While we may never achieve 100% accuracy, we are always striving to refine our algorithm. If you receive incorrect results from our Reverse Work Email Lookup Endpoint, please email us a CSV file containing:

  • The work email you provided.
  • The result you received.
  • The correct result you expected.
